Implementation Exchange: Reconciling Science and Affairs

Abstract
The June “Implementation Exchange” identified five classifications arrayed along a spectrum ranging from Pure Science to Pure Affairs. (1) pure science, (2) pseudoscience, (3) management science, (4) pseudoaffairs, (5) pure affairs.
I am quite happy with this nominal representation. However, I think it is inappropriate to view the five areas as being on an ordinal scale, with pure science and pure affairs as the polar extremes.
Where does management science fit in this picture? Why, in the intersection between pure science and pure affairs, of course.
