SYSTAT SOFTWARE INTRODUCES SYSTAT 11

Systat Software, Inc. recently introduced SYSTAT 11, providing statisticians and professional researchers advanced statistical
and graphical capabilities with improved ease-of-use and analytical efficiency. SYSTAT 11 continues the legacy of Leland Wilkinson, who created SYSTAT 20 years ago and who pioneered programmable graphs for statistical visualization. SYSTAT
11 continues this tradition of state-of-the-art intelligent statistical graphing with significant graph enhancements, including
improved 3D and new quality charts. This version also makes major strides in ease-of-use with a progressive Microsoft Office-like user interface that puts all the data and graphs at one’s fingertips.

SYSTAT 11 also contains major new statistical features, which include Monte Carlo (including Markov chain Monte Carlo) methods, quality analysis, distribution fitting, and robust regression.SYSTAT 11 adds about 700 new pages of additional material, much of it useful in educational environments.

New features include:

  • Mersenne-Twister algorithm, a powerful random number generator with many desirable properties, to facilitate modern bootstrap and Monte Carlo exercises.

  • Streamlined user interface and faster analysis speed.

  • Improved graph customization and data visualization.

In addition, SYSTAT’s suite of 13 distributions has been expanded to 33 discrete and continuous, univariate and multivariate
distributions.

TRUCKSTOPS ROUTE SCHEDULING SOFTWARE OFFERS NEW CAPABILITIES

MicroAnalytics, Inc. released version 3.0 of the TruckStops Routing & Scheduling Software. The new version offers enhanced
itinerary generating capabilities in addition to the ability to output route data via ODBC. These new enhancements allow TruckStops users more flexibility in both data exchange and itinerary generating functions.

TruckStops’ interface to Microsoft’s MapPoint product has been enhanced to allow users to seamlessly access turn-by-turn driving directions, turn-by-turn maps as well as street-level distance calculations from within the TruckStops user interface. Maps and driving directions can be printed from within the TruckStops interface or emailed to other parties. All of this functionality is available both for the United States and Canada, allowing greater flexibility for both domestic and Canadian customers in the itinerary generating process. These enhancements also give users more choice in the itinerary-generating tool they wish to use with TruckStops.

The ODBC functionality introduced into TruckStops in a previous version release has now been enhanced to allow users to not only bring data into the Truck-Stops system using ODBC, but now to also output route information using ODBC communication. Users can bypass the data export process altogether and have their data save out to another ODBC compliant database quickly and easily.

COTNOIR TRANSPORT OPTIMIZES DISTRIBUTION WITH A.MAZE

GEOCOM, architect of A.MAZE, a fleet scheduling optimization and territory design solution, announced that Cotnoir Transport
has selected the A.MAZE software solution to automate its distribution processes. Cotnoir operates the home delivery activities of leading retailers such as Sears, The Bay, Future Shop and Brick to major towns across the province of Quebec.

Reducing delivery time and operation costs, and personalizing services according to the clients’ needs, are paramount to Cotnoir Transport. Home delivery of furniture and appliances is a complex business. The delivery points differ every day of every week. Moreover, the time window between listing the delivery points, producing the optimized schedule, getting the merchandise in the right order on the dock, and then dispatching the truck is quite narrow. Technology was needed to meet these challenges and the company’s objectives.

“GEOCOM’s solution systematically gave us over 10 percent savings on trip duration, and almost 10 percent on traveled distance, but more importantly, a real fleet scheduling automation process, without any manual intervention from the dispatchers,” says Gilbert Cotnoir of Cotnoir Transport.

GOLDSIM USER CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP SET FOR LAS VEGAS

The Annual International GoldSim User Conference will be held in Las Vegas on Oct. 12-13 at the Tuscany Suites & Casino.
Two workshops will be held just prior to the conference that attendees may also attend at no extra cost.“Building Models in GoldSim: Basic Concepts” will be held on Oct. 10 and 11.“Advanced GoldSim Topics” will be held for experienced GoldSim users on Oct. 11. This workshop will discuss a number of advanced GoldSim topics, including two new modules now under development, the Reliability Module, and the Optimization Module.

The conference itself will consist of papers submitted by users describing various applications of the software, presentations by GoldSim staff of new (or upcoming) features, roundtable discussions on selected modeling topics and several planned social events.
