Gurobi Optimization recently announced the release of Gurobi Optimizer 3.0, cutting the time to solve the toughest scheduling and
resource allocation problems. Focused on problems that were previously slow or impossible to solve, Gurobi Optimizer 3.0 includes new, innovative math programming techniques.
Top companies rely on optimization software to schedule and allocate valuable resources, enabling them to increase sales, cut costs and reduce production/transit times. With the performance of Gurobi Optimizer 3.0, companies can expand their business planning models to include longer planning horizons, a finer level of detail, and an integrated view across more elements of their business. When companies can rapidly calculate the optimal plan for more of their business activities, they can achieve even greater profits.
“We’re quite pleased with the results we’re seeing with Version 3.0. The new parallel barrier algorithm and enhancements in our mixed-integer solver are proving to be powerful tools in solving some very difficult problems that were previously unsolvable,” says Robert Bixby, co-founder and president of Gurobi Optimization.
The new parallel barrier algorithm can cut solve times for many difficult optimization problems. Using today’s multi-core processors, the Gurobi Optimizer 3.0 can run in parallel to solve problems faster than ever before. Version 3.0 also improves the mixed-integer solver via innovative techniques for handling symmetry and advanced new cutting planes. This version also includes a new .NET interface to complement the existing C, C++, Java and Python interfaces.
These latest enhancements to the robust, high-performance linear and mixed-integer programming solvers in the Gurobi Optimizer suite, combined with our innovative licensing and delivery models, give customers more options for employing optimization in their businesses.
River Logic makes magazine’s top-100 list
River Logic, Inc., a provider of corporate performance management and predictive modeling software, announced its inclusion in the ninth annual listing of the Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100. This marks the fourth time River Logic has made the magazine’s list.
“As the economy makes tentative steps toward recovery and growth, our readers are turning to Supply & Demand Chain Executive to learn about solutions and best practices for enabling business expansion through supply chain excellence,” says Andrew K. Reese, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “With this year’s Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100, we highlight a broad range of supply chain solution and service providers that are helping to position their customers for the ‘New Normal’ economic environment.”
River Logic was selected for its strategic planning technology, Integrated Business Planner (IBP), which is helping clients prepare their enterprise supply chains for the post-recessionary return to growth.
“Integrated Business Planner is a solution that ties all elements of demand, supply, and financial analysis to business goals and strategy. It helps clients like Beaulieu Group improve business performance by increasing fact-based analytic and decisionmaking capabilities,” states Kevin Howe, CEO for River Logic. “With IBP, Beaulieu Group can more easily identify what business is optimal and which customers are most profitable to serve in this ‘New Normal’ economic environment.”
Supply Chain Toolworks unveils new software category
Supply Chain Toolworks Inc., a manufacturer of software solutions for process manufacturers, recently released Operation Strategy Planner Version 10.01.0, an enterprise-grade software solution. This modular system foundation features data consolidation, workflow model development and a demand-driven supply chain evaluator.
Supply Chain Toolworks addresses the need to demonstrate cost savings by better planning and designing run strategies that hit key performance indictors (KPI)s. Operation Strategy Planner achieves these results with sophisticated workflows and patented processes that have evolved to become a revolutionary operations strategy planner (OSP), the core of the company’s platform. The powerful tool automates strategic and tactical planning to support customers in executing sophisticated operations planning on its own.
Supply Chain Toolworks provides executive analysis by using a unified statistical planning model(s) that designs run strategies to meet or exceed KPIs, by instilling a rhythm and predictability to manufacturing environments. The company targets optimal raw material inventory levels to include safety stock and activity-based costing,
