What is your opinion on the value of professional certifications?

A professional certification is a way to quickly communicate that you have proven your ability over a certain skillset. It signifies that you understand the domain and can apply it in practice.

Do you think that earning the aCAP is important for students?

Yes. It’s a way to separate oneself from the crowd. As a student, you would likely apply to many different job positions. Having this certification could make the difference of landing an interview.

How much time did you dedicate to studying for the exam? 

I reviewed the processes the night before. The exam is largely based on practical knowledge, so I would argue I’ve been studying for the CAP since before I started my career.

What is the best advice you can give to someone studying for the exam right now? 

Study the processes. Those are the most useful to spend time studying. There will be plenty of modeling problems, but practical experience is the best way to study for those. The processes are where I focused my time.
