Perspectives on Simulation Research and Practice

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1287/ijoc.6.4.318

This paper discusses recent developments in simulation research, current directions, as well as how research interacts with practice and software development. Among the methodological research areas considered are modeling techniques, generation of random numbers and processes, and statistical design and analysis. Projections for future research are made, and ways in which practice can both benefit from research as well as help guide it are discussed.
