Technical Note—Economic Packaging Frequency for Items Jointly Replenished
Abstract
The model described in this note is typically applicable to the batch-processing industry, where a batch of a product is packaged into more than one container types immediately after its manufacture. When a product is packaged in this way, the items (each represents a particular type or size of container) are said to be jointly replenished. A problem involving five jointly replenishable items has been solved to illustrate the recommended approach.
