Nine dissertations were submitted to the 1992 Transportation Science Section dissertation prize competition. The paper presents extended abstracts of those dissertations. Pinar (letter of commendation) (Decomposition and Parallel Solution of Network-Structured Optimization Problems), Haitham Mohammed Al-Deek (The Role of Advanced Traveler Information Systems in Incident Management), Mohammed Saleh Al-Malik (An Investigation and Development of a Combined Traffic Signal Control-Traffic Assignment Model), Chandra Bhat (Toward a Model of Activity Program Generation), Bernardo J. de Castilho (High-Throughput Intermodal Containers Terminals Technical and Economic Analysis of New Direct-Transfer System), Melody Dzwo-Min Dai (Delay Estimation on Congested Waterways), and Jia Hao Wu (A Study of Monotone Variational Inequalities and Their Application to Network Equilibrium Problems).
