Letter to the Editor—A Note on the Minimum Fleetsize for a Suburban Railway System

A formulation of the problem of optimizing the operations of a suburban railway system with a given peak timetable is presented that has computational advantages over that given by Salzborn. The solution proposed by Salzborn for his case study is shown to be nonoptimal.
