Interview with General James M. Gavin. General James M. Gavin joined Arthur D. Little, Inc. in 1958 following thirty-three years of service in the U. S. Army where he became the youngest American division commander since the Civil War. General Gavin was named United States Ambassador to France by President Kennedy early in 1961 and served in that capacity until the fall of 1962. He is a former commander of the 82nd Airborne Division and, at the time of his retirement from the Army, was chief of Research and Development of the Department of the Army. General Gavin is the author of four books.
