On-Line Scheduling in the Production Environment: Part II. A “Successful” Case History
Abstract
This case history, like the one in Part I, comes from a 7,000-employee automotive transmission plant. It concerns a centerless grinder department which could be viewed as a parallel processor production system. This case is the second of a two-part series: Part I, in the last issue, detailed an unsuccessful implementation of a valid solution to a scheduling problem in a large transfer line department.
