Is Your Organization Ready for MRP? A Case Study
Abstract
In recent years, journals, conferences, and seminars across the country have been dedicating themselves to solving the problem of inventory control, and rightly so. With carrying costs rising to unprecedented levels something has to be done. In vogue today is MRP (Materials Requirements Planning). With the aid of computer technology, it is now feasible to keep track of all materials, parts, components, and end items. With an MRP program spitting out information at a phenomenal rate, it is only proper to assume that all control problems can be remedied. Or is it? This paper will attempt to describe the experience of a division of an aerospace corporation with MRP.
