Operations Research in the US Marine Corps: A Characterization
Abstract
In 1981 a survey was conducted of all officers with a secondary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of Operations Analyst on active duty in the US Marine Corps. Its aim was to determine the usage frequency and the importance of 35 OR techniques and application areas during the officers' most recent tours of duty. The study focused on the use of operations research, but also yields insight on the use of operations researchers.
