Multi-Item Inventory Control for Fluctuating Reorder Intervals

Multi-item inventories with strongly fluctuating demand rates are difficult to manage, particularly in cases where the interval between orders is subject to management considerations outside of those which can be reasonably modeled mathematically. I have developed a system for a small building supply which has improved the customer service level, while permitting a 15 percent reduction in the total investment in four inventory categories.
