Editor's Note

This issue is the fourth special issue with focus on the practice of Management Science. The papers found in this volume are part of a continuing evidence that Management Science is a viable profession, and that OR/MS practitioners, intent on influencing the course of events in their organizations, do indeed succeed brilliantly sometimes. These papers are the prize winners of the annual prize competition held by the College on the Practice of Management Science at San Francisco, May 1977.
