Letter to the Editor—Use of OR in a Data-Processing Operation (A Case History)
Abstract
An OR type procedure for developing decision criteria is presented, the criteria determine whether to reprocess data through an automatic digital computer or use error-correction routines to modify incorrect results. Error correction routines refer to procedures by which results could be modified without completely duplicating the original computer processing. Conclusions, surprisingly enough, show that the use of error-correction routines is often no more economical than reprocessing even a relatively large set of data.
