Letter to the Editor—Use of Linear Programming in Capital Budgeting
Abstract
Linear programming has found wide application in solving such diverse problems as determining the optimum utilization of machines, most different scheduling procedures, most economical routing of transportation, best system of salary scales, etc. An example has recently come to our attention which illustrates the value of this new technique, and the practical type of solution arrived at, in the important field of capital budgeting. In order to protect the identity of the company involved, we have modified slightly some of the figures and the nature of the product.
