Report on the Transportation Science Section Dissertation Prize Competition for 1996. The awards were announced at the Fall meeting of INFORMS in Atlanta. The first prize winner was Dr. Tassio Carvalho of Princeton University for his thesis “Dynamic Control of Spatial Resource Allocation Problems.” Honorable mentions went to Dr. Christopher Caplice of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Kerry Malone of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Dr. Erik Verhoef of the University of Amsterdam.
