An Artificial Intelligence Application to Timber Harvest Schedule Implementation

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1287/inte.14.5.77

Artificial intelligence can be used to select timber stands in the implementation of linear programming solutions to harvest planning problems. A discriminant function is estimated using spatial data observed when a forester selects stands. This system can be used to provide specific information needed to reformulate linear programming constraints which previously resulted in unacceptable solutions.
