Popularization of Management Science in China

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1287/inte.16.2.2

Since the early sixties, China has been applying mathematical methods to production and planning problems in an environment where qualified personnel are scarce, and where computers are not readily available. Professor Hua Loo-Keng chose the path of popularization, selecting methods that do not require large and complex calculations and can be used by those with relatively little education. A large number of problems can be solved using fairly simple mathematical methods easily taught to nonspecialists. Popularization of mathematical methods has provided a way to extend the application and impact of management science in China.
