The Fifth Column: La Méthode de Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand or Maximized Acceptance with Optimized Agendas
Abstract
The paper discusses running a real-world MS/OR problem using the Sorted Agenda Method of Talleyrand, foreign minister of the Empire of Napoleon I. To overcome obvious weaknesses of the One-Answer Syndrome, this approach presents a mock agenda of at least five options geared toward acceptance of what is the real standpoint one wants to defend.
