ORSA/TIMS Collaboration
Abstract
At the joint ORSA/TIMS meeting in Atlantic City in November 1972, the ORSA and the TIMS Councils established a “Blue Ribbon Committee” to identify how the two societies could cooperate more effectively to their mutual advantage. The members of the Committee, appointed by the two societies, are Alfred Blumstein (Chairman), D. M. Boodman, H. J. Davidson, Julian Liff, Robert Oliver, and Harvey Wagner.
The Committee was charged with preparing a report for submission to the Councils and to the general membership of the two societies. The Committee presented its report to the two Councils at their meetings in Milwaukee on May 8–10, 1973. As the next step in the implementation of the report, both Councils acted on the principal recommendations of the Committee and the ORSA [TIMS] Council adopted the actions listed at the end of this report. Further steps toward implementation of the recommendations will require suggestions, comments, and reactions from the general membership of both societies, and so the report and the Council actions are presented here for general consideration and discussion by the members.
All members are invited to submit their opinions and comments to the Editor or to the Chairman of the Joint ORSA/TIMS Committee or to any Council member.—The Editor
