The Importance of Impediments to Implementation

An extensive literature has accumulated regarding methods to enhance implementation of management decision models and computer-based information systems. This article reviews the appropriateness of organizational impediments to implementation in protecting the organization from ill-conceived or inappropriate decision methodologies and information generators and filters. Typical faults of models and systems resulting in implementation failure are reviewed, and the desirability of such failure is discussed.
