Model World: The Academic Midlife Crisis

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1287/inte.27.5.54

An informal overview of the panel discussion at the Spring 1996 INFORMS meeting whose intent was expressed as: “While career-related problems in midlife are experienced in all fields, the academic life holds few imperatives and few rewards for the senior tenured faculty. Motivating faculty to continue to be productive into their later years is a challenge. Panelists will discuss some of their ideas on this problem. The session is designed to be give-and-take among panelists and members of the audience.”
