Management Science Literature: Another View

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1287/inte.10.3.45

In the last few years the state of Management Science literature has received a great deal of discussion. Most of the discourse has been an intramural contest, between and among professionals. Although “Know thyself” is still good practice it does not follow that we are our own best critics. It is worthwhile to see ourselves as others see us. Distant views may be no more complete, but they do add perspective. Recently, I had the opportunity to get a different view of Management Science literature, a view from a group who, although of vital interest to the future of Management Science, are not regular readers of our journals—practicing managers. I felt their comments were important enough to share with a wider audience.
