Communicating Model Based Information for Energy Debates: Two Case Studies

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1287/inte.10.5.42

Making modeling results useful for policy debates is difficult. This paper discusses two examples of how decision analysis was used to help communicate policy-relevant model-based analyses. In the first example a decision tree was used to define a set of scenarios associated with a moratorium on the construction of new nuclear generating capacity. In the second example an interactive computer program was written to help a group think through the implications of alternative nuclear R&D strategies.
