Bells and Whistles
Abstract
The real author wrote this paper under the pseudonym Jean-Baptiste Leon Say.
At times, the language used to present an argument can be as much of an obstacle to the success of a presentation as the substance of what is being said. Our clients and client organizations all have their own reserved “code words.” By inadvertently using them, we can set off reactions that we did not anticipate. Described here is an incident where the consultants added the wrong bells and whistles to their project report.
