A Fairer Scoring System for Jai-alai

Several states permit paramutual wagering on jai-alai, a sport whose scoring system is based on a queue and can therefore be subject to analysis. Monte Carlo analysis of the “spectacular seven” scoring system shows that the post or starting position of the player strongly influences the results of the game. Alternative scoring systems can minimize the effect of post position.
