Practice of Management Science—Minimizing the Environmental Impact of Territorial Corridors: A Case Study
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that with appropriate assessment and quantification of environmental data and the subsequent utilization of a dynamic optimization process, the impact of territorial corridors on the environment—an issue of controversy between environmentalists and advocates of technological progress—can be minimized.
The discussion deals with the data assessment process, the data management and the quantitative model that was used. A case study dealing with the determination of an optimal corridor for a high voltage transmission line is presented, and some of the management aspects relative to this case study are discussed.
