The Generic Nature of Optimality Conditions in Nonlinear Programming

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1287/moor.4.4.425

First- and second-order optimality conditions are treated for parameterized classes of nonlinear programming problems in Rn. Under certain assumptions, it is shown that almost all problems in the class are such that every local minimizer satisfies the strong form of the optimality conditions.
