Pellet-Effectiveness Analysis
Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of a simple but interesting random collision process. The problem involves the effectiveness of pellets against target objects. Appropriate probability density functions are derived from the physical conditions and are used to discuss various properties of the random collision process and the effectiveness of the pellets. No new statistical techniques are provided in the paper and it is perhaps noteworthy that such simple, well-known methods can be employed to investigate so many aspects of an interesting problem.
