Editor-in-Chief, M&SOM

Deadline: March 23, 2026

The final term of Professor Georgia Perakis as Editor-In-Chief (EIC) of the M&SOM journal will expire on December 31, 2026. Based on recommendations from the INFORMS Publications Committee, the president of INFORMS has appointed a committee to conduct a full search for a new Editor-In-Chief. The committee intends to propose a candidate for approval by INFORMS no later than July 1, 2026.

All members of INFORMS are invited to participate in this process.

OM Grand Challenges: Call for Proposals

The MSOM Society and M&SOM Journal invite teams of academics and practitioners to submit proposals for the new OM Grand Challenges initiative, focused on major operations management challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Selected teams will present at the 2026 MSOM Conference and be invited to contribute to a special M&SOM issue.

Proposal Details

• Max 10 pages
• Identify an SDG (or sub SDG)
• Include: team info, current practice, academic knowledge, practitioner engagement, grand challenges, references

Deadline

March 15, 2026 — Submit to [email protected]

Key Dates

• April 15, 2026: Acceptance notifications
• July 12, 2026: Presentations at MSOM 2026 (Harvard)
• December 15, 2026: Final papers due

In Memoriam:
Leroy B. Schwarz

The M&SOM Journal is saddened to share the passing of the founding EIC of the journal Leroy B. Schwarz. He was an INFORMS Fellow, and significant contributor to the OR/MS community, Leroy B. Schwarz. A professor with the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University for much of his career, Professor Schwarz's teaching and research interests were in healthcare supply chain management, manufacturing planning and control systems, and in strategic sourcing and procurement.

M&SOM Practice-Based Research Competition

The objectives of the M&SOM Practice-Based Research Competition are to motivate, help develop, reward and highlight high-quality OM research papers with significant practical relevance, and to publish these papers in the M&SOM journal. COVID-19 Virtual Special Issue

M&SOM has started a virtual special issue called "The Impact of Operations in the COVID-19 Pandemic." This virtual special issue will showcase papers that highlight the contributions the field of operations is having during the pandemic, which has impacted the whole world in a critical way.
